Last season, the Cleveland Browns needed every single one of their guys to step up and play.

Now, they hope that won’t be the case.

According to a report by Dianna Russini, the Browns have officially released Tyler Huntley.

The Cleveland Browns, who had four quarterbacks on their roster, are now down to three.

The former Baltimore Ravens backup will now be a free agent.

The Browns signed Jameis Winston early in the offseason, and while there were reports of the team fielding calls to trade him, that never seemed to be the case.

They were also quite high on second-year QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who they took in the fifth round of the NFL Draft last season.

That left Huntley as the odd man out, and with Deshaun Watson reportedly being ready to start in Week 1, there was no need for a fourth quarterback on the active roster.

The Browns reportedly tried to trade Huntley before Tuesday’s roster-cut deadline.

Needless to say, the Browns will most definitely hope he clears waivers so they can bring him back to their practice squad, but that seems unlikely at the moment.

Even so, their biggest hope will be that Deshaun Watson will stay healthy for the season and, more than that, that he actually plays well for them.
