The Cleveland Browns loved what they saw from Dorian Thompson-Robinson in college and during training camp.
They felt so good about him that they didn’t hesitate to trade Joshua Dobbs before the start of the season.
Then, they threw him on the field when Deshaun Watson surprisingly announced he wasn’t going to be able to play vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
And while his first start wasn’t pretty, he was much better once he finally got some time and reps under his belt to prepare.
Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to finish the season because of an injury.
And with the Browns adding both Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, some thought they were ready to move on from him.
That doesn’t seem to be the case now, and he’s not going to go down without a fight.
According to Browns insider Brad Stainbrook, Thompson-Robinson just had an MRI that showed encouraging results and no setbacks, adding that he would throw a bit in the afternoon and there was a chance that he would be able to participate in mandatory minicamp next week.

Stainbrook adds that it would depend on whether he responds well to the increased workload this week.
The Browns used a fifth-round pick on Thompson-Robinson, and they seem to feel like he’s a perfect fit for their system.
Even so, Winston is most likely going to start the season as QB2.
But if the Browns learned something last season, it was that you can never have too many quarterbacks
