The past few seasons have been a rollercoaster of emotions for the Cleveland Browns.

Many fans and analysts were excited to see how the Deshaun Watson trade would pan out, which, to this point, has looked like a suboptimal investment.

Between off-field controversy, injuries, and a lack of overall production, Watson hasn’t looked like the player he once was with the Houston Texans.

While this has been a problem for the Browns to deal with in recent seasons, they have another pressing issue on their hands.

Amari Cooper has been holding out from team practice and activities, seemingly wanting more money from the organization.

This has become a commonly-used tactic in recent seasons, as players try to negotiate a new contract by staying away from the team.

There haven’t been a lot of public comments from the Browns to this point about the situation, but that all changed when GM Andrew Berry appeared on “The Insiders” on NFL Network.

“We’ll navigate business considerations, business aspects as it goes, but he is a big part of our team and, just as importantly, a big part of our culture,” Berry said.

Cooper has been the Browns’ primary receiver for the past two seasons, making a meaningful impact on their offense since he joined the team.

If he holds out for much longer, it could jeopardize the team’s chances of cohesion heading into the 2024 season.

They’ve already struggled with consistency at quarterback given Watson’s unavailability, but that could ramp up further the longer Cooper sits out.
