After losing star quarterback Deshaun Watson and star running back Nich Chubb early in the 2023 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns seemed like a team that would be destined for a disappointing end to the year, as few saw a path for them making any noise in the AFC let alone in arguably the toughest division (AFC North) in the league.

Despite the odds being against them without Watson and Chubb for the rest of the season, Cleveland made an inspired effort to salvage the season, as they resurrected veteran quarterback Joe Flacco’s career and became one of the best defenses in the league led by Myles Garrett who went on to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Along with Garrett earning top honors as the best defensive player in the league last season, head coach Kevin Stefanski was rewarded for the incredible job he did leading this shorthanded team into the NFL playoffs.

Stefanski was awarded the NFL Coach of the Year award, and justifiably so, which has led to questions about whether he’ll be calling plays against this season, which he said that he will via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

With Stefanski proving that he can get the job done while calling the plays, it makes sense that he wouldn’t change that aspect of coaching during the upcoming 2024 NFL season, especially with the team getting close to being whole with their star players getting back healthy.

Although Chubb has been placed on the PUP list heading into training camp while trying to bounce back from his knee injury, Watson appears ready to get back under center in Cleveland, which is a great sign moving forward.
