The Deshaun Watson era has been very disappointing for the Cleveland Browns.
Ever since arriving in a trade in 2022, the quarterback has failed to even remotely resemble the player he was while with the Houston Texans, when he made three straight Pro Bowls.
This preseason, he has been working his way back from a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery, but the 28-year-old has recently been dealing with an ailing arm.
Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot reported Watson has “general soreness” in his throwing shoulder and that his status for the upcoming final preseason game is in question.

The Browns likely thought they were getting a legitimate franchise QB when they acquired Watson, something they arguably haven’t had since the days of Bernie Kosar more than 30 years ago.
Watson was a legitimate rising star in Houston and led the NFL in passing yards in 2020, but in two years with Cleveland, he has appeared to be over the hill.
During that time, he has completed 59.8 percent of his pass attempts and thrown for 2,217 yards and 14 touchdowns while appearing in just 12 games.
But if he ever returns to form, he should make Cleveland even more competitive in the difficult AFC North.
The Browns have a legitimate star wide receiver in Amari Cooper, an emerging tight end in David Njoku, and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Myles Garrett.
The Browns are also hoping running back Nick Chubb, who suffered a severe knee injury in Week 2 last season, will return soon and be at least close to the same player he was before that.
