Bryce Young has officially joined the Carolina Panthers after they selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Young wore No. 9 throughout his collegiate career, but Matt Corral previously held that number on the Panthers.

In a recent announcement by Ari Meirov, he revealed that Young will officially wear No. 9 and that Corral has switched to No. 2.

As Meirov indicates, Corral wore No. 2 at Ole Miss.

It appears that both players have received their collegiate numbers at the professional level.

This announcement came a few days after a deleted tweet from Corral, who quoted a story about being in the wrong place.

The Panthers used a third-round pick on Corral in 2022.

At the time, many believed that Corral would compete for the starting job, but was injured during the preseason, never getting his chance.

One year removed from the team drafting Corral in the third round, the Panthers used early capital on Young.

Young is a highly-touted prospect, as he won the Heisman Trophy in 2021.

Despite being the No. 1 pick, some around the league still doubt his size, wondering if he will be able to have a long career in the NFL.

While Young is likely to be the Panthers’ starter for the first week of the season, there is still a path for Corral.

Corral still has a chance to compete, and will be the presumed starter, should Young get injured during his rookie campaign.

The next several months for the Panthers should prove to be interesting, as this saga between Corral and Young continues.
