After being selected No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers had high hopes that they made the right decision to draft Bryce Young out of the University of Alabama rather than take Ohio State star CJ Stroud.

Unfortunately for Young, the 2023 campaign was forgettable and rough, to say the least, for the rookie quarterback as he dealt with a head coach who was ultimately fired and a team that was not built to win more than two games.

The 2-15 record for the Panthers last season turned out to be the worst in the NFL, and by a considerable margin, the next set of teams above them won four games, making Carolina look that much worse.

However, the Panthers are rebuilding and thrust Young into the starting role right away, which rarely has good results, but it definitely didn’t help for Stroud to be an instant success with the Houston Texans.

Heading into his second year in the NFL, Young is trying to soak up the knowledge in order to bounce back with a vengeance and show his true potential, so he’s been taking advice from two legends, Cam Newton and Steve Smith Sr, as he told Kay Adams on Up & Adams.

At this point in time, there’s no telling whether Young will become the real deal under center on the NFL level, but he’s still got time to prove his worth and the full backing of the organization.

Only time will tell if Young can live up to the expectations of a No. 1 overall pick and if that results in the franchise turning things around.
