Football is a physical sport, and many NFL players haven’t been able to live up to the expectations because of injuries.

That’s the case with Sterling Shepard, who entered the league as a second-round pick but has missed plenty of time with different ailments.

That’s why, despite being just 31 years old, he even considered retirement in the offseason

Notably, that’s not going to be the case.

According to a report by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the veteran wide receiver will sign a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The #Buccaneers have agreed to terms with veteran WR Sterling Shepard on a one-year deal, source says.

He’ll now be reunited with his former quarterback at Oklahoma, Baker Mayfield.

Shepard has spent his entire eight-year career with the New York Giants.

He suffered a torn Achilles in 2021 and a torn ACL in 2022, struggling with ailments in his hamstring, quad, and ankle as well.

He’s coming off a subpar campaign with just ten receptions for 57 yards and one touchdown in 15 appearances for Brian Daboll’s team.

Shepard seemed to have a promising future in the league, logging eight touchdown receptions in his first year and being quite productive in his first five years in the league.

He even shined with 872 receiving yards in 2018 before all the injuries derailed his career.

The Buccaneers already have a stellar wide receiver duo with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, but you can never have too much talent at the skill positions.

Hopefully, he’ll be able to stay on the field and avoid injury in what might be his final season in the NFL.
