One of the surprise teams in the NFL this season is, without a doubt, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the team had to replace arguably the greatest quarterback of all time and hope to stay afloat in the NFC.

Fortunately, the Buccaneers seem to have made the right decision to bring in veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield as Tom Brady’s successor, and although Tampa Bay was far from dominant this season, the team definitely exceeded expectations and now has a playoff win to their credit as well.

With the Buccaneers being able to win the NFC South division crown, which resulted in a playoff berth, the team was able to host the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the postseason despite being underdogs.

Then Tampa Bay proceeded to crush Philadelphia at Raymond James Stadium en route to a 32-9 blowout, which seems to have helped draw some attention to offensive coordinator Dave Canales, who will reportedly interview for the Carolina Panthers head coaching job on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

It seems as though Canales and the Buccaneers can only continue to defy the odds from here on out, with the team now set to go on the road as underdogs to face a tough and talented Detroit Lions team led by former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff.

If the Buccaneers can get the best of the Lions in Detroit, they’ll have a shot at making it to the Super Bowl, as they’ll face the winner of the showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
