The Milwaukee Bucks began the 2023-24 NBA season with a new head coach in Adrian Griffin, following the firing of Mike Budenholzer.

Budenholzer was sacked by the Bucks following the unexpected first-round exit of the organization as the number one seed in the 2023 NBA playoffs.

With Griffin taking over the team, many expected a turnaround for the Bucks.

For what it’s worth, the Bucks are currently one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference following the acquisition of Damian Lillard via trade.

Despite being the second seed in the Eastern Conference ahead of the NBA All-Star Weekend, the Bucks decided to abruptly fire Griffin in the middle of the season.

Following the surprising decision, Bucks GM Jon Horst issued a statement about Griffin’s firing, via Marc Stein on Twitter.

“This was a difficult decision to make during the season. We are working immediately toward hiring our next head coach. We thank Coach Griffin for his hard work and contributions to the team,” Bucks GM Jon Horst said.

While Horst did admit that it was a difficult decision for the organization to fire their head coach in the middle of the season, he didn’t explain the reason behind the decision.

Horst made a static statement about thanking Griffin for his contributions to the team in his short stint.

Under the coaching of Griffin, the Bucks were 30-13 and, as mentioned earlier, held the second seed in the East.

Following the departure of Griffin, the Bucks announced assistant coach Joe Prunty will serve as the interim head coach of the team.

However, according to reports, the Bucks have already agreed to sign Doc Rivers as the next head coach of the organization.
