Bucks Have Reportedly Made A Decision About Brook Lopez’s Future

The Milwaukee Bucks aren’t what one would call a young team.

That’s why some veterans could be seen as expendable.

Notably, Brook Lopez is entering the final year of his contract, and he’s 36 years old already.

With a base salary of $23 million, he looks like a prime trade candidate.

However, according to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN (via NBA Central), the team has already informed their veteran big man that they have no intention to trade him.

Lopez has been a major contributor to the team, even at his age.

He’s been something similar to their own version of Al Horford, doing some dirty work on both ends of the floor, even if it doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet.

While he’s no longer the All-Star-caliber player he used to be, Lopez’s newly-found three-point shooting stroke and his ability to use his length to contest shots have made him a very valuable asset in Wisconsin.

Doc Rivers will enter his first full season in charge of the team, and while that’s not always an encouraging sign, the Bucks still have a championship-caliber roster.

Of course, flipping Lopez could perhaps allow them to add multiple pieces around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, but he’s also earned the benefit of the doubt after helping them win an NBA championship.

This is a cruel business, so anything could still happen.

But, barring a major turn of events, Lopez won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
