The Milwaukee Bucks have been very busy lately, with the team doing everything within its power to make superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo happy and content ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season in order to secure his long-term future with the team.

After making the blockbuster three-way trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns to acquire superstar guard Damian Lillard, the Bucks continued to address the backcourt on Sunday.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Bucks have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran guard Cameron Payne.

Obviously, signing Payne isn’t a game-changer like bringing in Lillard, but it does provide a bit of depth in the backcourt for Milwaukee, which is always a good thing for a title contender.

After bouncing around the league to start his career in the NBA with stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers, Payne was able to take his game to another level with the Suns over the last four years.

Payne was able to carve out a role with the Suns while playing with Devin Booker and Chris Paul until he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs back in July.

The Spurs chose to waive Payne, making him a free agent, which led to the Bucks being able to bring him in ahead of training camp to add depth to the backcourt and potentially play a role off the bench next season.

In 48 games played last season, Payne averaged 10.3 points, 4.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game, shooting 41.5% from the floor and 36.8% from beyond the arc.
