Klay Thompson is no longer a member of the Golden State Warriors, and the team will have a slightly new look this coming NBA season.

They have brought in another sharpshooter by the name of Buddy Hield in an attempt to replace the production Thompson gave them for about a decade.

Thompson and longtime fellow backcourt starting mate Stephen Curry had long been called the “Splash Brothers,” and some have suggested that Curry and Hield should be called the “Splash Buddies.”

Hield was asked about that nickname, and he doesn’t seem to mind it, per 95.7 The Game.

“I don’t see nothing wrong with it but we just gotta take it day by day,” Hield said.

How does Buddy Hield feel about him and Steph being called the Splash Buddies?

Hield has never quite been the overall scoring threat Thompson was in his prime, but he is a more accurate 3-point shooter these days than Thompson is at this point of his career.

Thompson hasn’t been the same since injuring his ACL and Achilles a few years ago, and while he still shoots in the high 30s from downtown, he has become somewhat inconsistent from game to game.

Hield, on the other hand, has mostly maintained his 3-point accuracy from year to year.

He shot 38.6 percent from that distance this past season while averaging 12.1 points per game, first for the Indiana Pacers and then with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Overall, the Warriors, winners of four NBA championships in the past 10 seasons, haven’t improved from last season when they missed the 2024 NBA Playoffs. However, they’re still hoping to pull off a major trade in order to become contenders again.
