Bulls Coach Is Being Linked To College Job

For the better part of the past two decades, Kentucky has been NBA teams’ favorite talent pool.

Under John Calipari, the Wildcats have provided dozens of NBA talents, from John Wall and Anthony Davis to Karl-Anthony Towns and many more.

Notably, that might change pretty soon, as Calipari is about to leave Kentucky after 15 seasons to join Arkansas on a massive deal.

Needless to say, that means the Wildcats will be in the hunt for a replacement, and even though there are plenty of suitable candidates in the collegiate basketball scene, their guy might be coaching in the pros right now.

According to Evan Sidery, the Wildcats could look to make a run at Billy Donovan.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan is a serious name to monitor for the Kentucky head coaching vacancy.

Donovan started his coaching career with Kentucky as an assistant from 1989-1994.

The Chicago Bulls could be looking at a full reset, and Donovan could be tempted to get back to college basketball.

He’s been in the NBA since the Oklahoma City Thunder signed him in 2015, but he hasn’t found that much success.

The Bulls could miss the playoffs for the third time in four years with Donovan on the job, so they might not have many incentives to keep him around for much longer.

Donovan also has ties to the Wildcats, as he started his coaching career as an assistant and spent five years with the program before leaving to join Marshall.

He’s 502-206 as a college basketball coach, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go back to campus.
