For decades, NBA fans have debated who’s the greatest player of all time, with LeBron James and Michael Jordan getting most of the votes.
However, if you were to ask Chicago Bulls legend Toni Kukoc, that’s a futile debate.
In a recent interview with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, the European forward claimed that it doesn’t make sense to compare Jordan and LeBron because they didn’t even play against each other.
Instead, he would compare Jordan to other legends and GOATs of sports, such as Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Michael Phelps.
LeBron & MJ cannot be compared says Toni Kukoc: “It’s hard to compare players that never played in the same era; that never played against each other. Obviously like everything else in the game of basketball is evolving. It’s getting better. These days you can see all the older… pic.twitter.com/qDeExUzUjv

Kukoc also states that players today have a blueprint as to how to take better care of their bodies and extend their careers, which wasn’t the case back in the day, so one doesn’t know how old-school guys would fare in today’s game.
Likewise, he thinks it’s unfair to state that modern-day guys wouldn’t be able to withstand his era’s physicality, in the same way, he thinks Jordan shouldn’t be compared with, say, Bill Russell or Elgin Baylor because they didn’t face each other.
This makes sense, as there isn’t an objective way to determine who’s a better player.
There are just so many ways to rank basketball players that it doesn’t make sense at this point anymore.
Of course, NBA pundits and analysts will always look to make a story out of this, but there’s just no way to know who would’ve fared better, starting with the fact that they didn’t even play in the same position.
