By now, most within the sports world are aware of what is currently taking place with the Baltimore Orioles and one of their announcers in Kevin Brown.

Brown made comments on July 23 about how the Orioles had struggled at Tropicana Field in the past but had seemingly reversed the trend this year.

Somehow, that led to him being suspended.

Fans and media members alike have spoken out in support of Brown, questioning Orioles owner John Angelos for making this decision.

On Twitter, Buster Olney of ESPN weighed in on the situation and predicted that Brown may soon ask for a contract extension with written protection from punishment such as this.

Kevin Brown is in position to ask for an extension, with written protection from future (ridiculous) discipline. He has enormous leverage in this moment.

Olney stated that Brown is in a good position to do such a thing because of the fact that the Orioles punished him seemingly without reason.

He also believes Brown has a ton of leverage after this incident.

Brown certainly does have a lot of leverage and could be entitled to a contract extension with protection against this harsh of a punishment for simply stating facts.

However, it is unknown what will happen with Brown next.

On Monday night, New York Mets play-by-play television announcer Gary Cohen even alluded to the fact that if the Orioles didn’t want to have him around, 29 other teams in Major League Baseball would be more than willing to give him a chance.

Brown could potentially take that opportunity to find work elsewhere if he so wishes.

He’s set to return soon from his suspension.
