The Houston Texans have a franchise savior.

CJ Stroud was even better than advertised, silencing the doubters and those who made a big deal of his reportedly low scores on some tests during the draft process.

He had arguably the single-best season for a rookie quarterback in NFL history, breaking multiple per-game marks, and he would’ve set new records if he had played the entire season.

Numbers aside, he looked poised and ready to take over every single game he played, embracing his role as the leader of the offense and making everybody around him better.

That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that he was just elected as the NFL fan-voted Rookie of the Year, according to a tweet by the Texans.

Stroud led the Texans to a 10-7 record, throwing for 4,108 yards to go along with 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions, even leading them to the AFC Divisional Round.

We’re talking about a team that had won just three games the year prior, and that’s despite having no running game whatsoever and not that much talent in the wide receiver room.

The Texans look like a team heading in the right direction right now.

DeMeco Ryans and Stroud look like the kind of duo who could turn a franchise’s culture around.

Barring a major surprise or shocking turn of events, he’s also going to get the official Rookie of the Year award, and don’t be shocked if he’s a legitimate MVP candidate as soon as next season.
