C.J. Stroud’s rookie season turned out a lot better than many people expected heading into the year.

Not only did he win Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he also helped turn the Houston Texans into a playoff team, a vast difference from their output in 2022.

Stroud quickly gained the respect of his teammates, but it appears that he has also gained the respect of his peers around the league.

He recently appeared on the “Millions Worth of Game podcast,” as Dov Kleiman highlighted, showcasing the type of trash talk he has already received.

Stroud mentioned Indianapolis Colts defender E.J. Speed by name but talked about the other players around the league who also talk trash.

“A lot of dudes come on these podcasts and say, “I’m gonna hit C.J. in his face, I’m gonna get him next year,” Stroud said.

Stroud doesn’t seem shaken by players talking about him like this.

Instead, he wondered why they didn’t do something about it last year, rather than talking about him in the offseason, wishing they played better against him.

Stroud has certainly put the league on notice, making the Texans a team to watch moving forward.

The AFC is top-heavy, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens seemed to be a cut above the rest last season.

Will Stroud be able to keep the Texans in contention, forcing people around the league to talk about them as one of the top teams in the conference?

If his current mentality is any indication, the Texans are seemingly set for the foreseeable future.
