The Detroit Pistons came close, but not close enough, on Thursday night.
During their game against the Boston Celtics, the Pistons led for a while but they ultimately ended up losing again and have now been defeated 28 times in a row, which is truly historic.
Instead of being down in the dumps about this latest loss, Pistons star Cade Cunningham is looking at the bright side.
“I think it shows like we’re on the same level as all these teams we’re playing against. There’s no team that I’ve ever come across in the NBA where I felt like I was going into a slaughterhouse,” Cunningham said about Thursday’s game, according to Tim Bontemps, via NBACentral.

That is a very optimistic way to look at the game.
It’s admirable that the Pistons led the Celtics during the game, even if they didn’t end up winning.
If they didn’t lose for the 28th time in a row, Detroit would have something to be proud of because they forced the Celtics to play into overtime.
Unfortunately, this tight loss came at the wrong time and the Pistons continue to make history for the wrong reason.
Although the Pistons have suffered some blowout losses throughout the season, they have also had a number of very close defeats.
Just a few more rebounds, a few more free throws, and a couple of lucky breaks could have changed the team’s fate.
Cunningham clearly still believes in his team and thinks they can acquire some wins.
Sadly, Pistons fans will only believe that when they see it.
