Before getting selected by the Chicago Bears with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, quarterback Caleb Williams was dealing with a lot of scrutiny off the football field while playing for the University of Southern California. His character was getting heavily criticized, with some believing his ego might derail his playing career on the professional level.
Fortunately for Williams, he has taken everything in stride and seems to have already won over his teammates and coaching staff in Chicago while creating a lot of buzz around the Bears heading into the 2024 NFL season.
After he declared for the draft, NFL analysts went all in with deep dives on Williams, breaking down his play on the field and his character off it while providing an assessment of what to expect from a potential superstar on the NFL level.
Williams wasn’t fond of a lot of things said about him and recently opened up to ESPN Chicago about what bothered him the most during the evaluation process.
“I would say the stuff where people were attacking my personality for things that wasn’t true,” Williams said. “I think that bothered me because how I’ve grown up with my family and my dad and mom.”

Williams can now put all that behind him, as many seem to believe he will be the real deal and capable of helping the Bears get on the right track to being a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
Only time will tell if Williams can right the ship in Chicago, but in the meantime, he’s getting a lot of attention as a player to watch heading into the 2024 campaign.
