The 2024 NFL Draft was one for the record books.
This year’s draft broke the record for the most quarterbacks taken in the first 12 picks, with six being selected.
Caleb Williams, of course, was the first QB off the board, the most coveted prospect in the pre-draft process.
He showcased some remarkable abilities during his time at USC, and the Chicago Bears are excited to see what he can do in his rookie year and beyond.
While Williams wasn’t likely to be taken anywhere but the No. 1 overall pick, there were some rumors that the Washington Commanders wanted to make a push to acquire him.
After all, Williams is from the Washington, D.C. area, and there were several indications that the Commanders could have been a great fit.
He had a previous relationship with Kliff Kingsbury, the newest offensive coordinator for the Commanders, and their rapport would have likely helped Williams acclimate to the league a bit quicker.
However, this didn’t end up happening, and now Williams is on the Bears.
He did briefly mention this conversation surrounding the Commanders in a recent appearance on Pardon My Take.
“I wasn’t against going home, as people said throughout the process,” Williams said.
Williams indicated that it would have been great to play in front of his home crowd every week, and his family could go to every game.
However, he’s also very excited to be joining the Bears, a historic organization that has begging for a quarterback prospect of Williams’ caliber.
