The Detroit Lions didn’t find much success, but they did have one of the most talented, dominant, and physically imposing players the game of football had ever seen.
Calvin Johnson looked like a man among children every time he lined up at the line of scrimmage, manhandling and big-brothering defenders with ease on every snap.
That’s why it was kind of shocking to see him retiring and walking away from the game without having given any previous notice.
He was still young and clearly had a lot left in the tank, even if he had dealt with some injuries in the recent past.
Johnson is now years removed from his playing days, and he recently opened up on retirement in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Megatron claimed that he immediately flipped the switch once he announced his retirement, so he stopped working out as intensely as he used to do in his playing days.

However, he admits that his days of not working out didn’t last long, though, adding that he’s grown quite fond of snow sports like snowboarding and skiing.
That Matthew Stafford – Calvin Johnson combination was one of the most entertaining to watch in recent NFL history, and it’s a shame that the Lions weren’t able to give them the pieces they needed to put together a postseason run.
He retired at just 30 years old and after nine seasons, but that was more than enough to get himself a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, hauling in 731 receptions for 11,619 yards and 83 receiving touchdowns.
