The Los Angeles Rams weren’t given much of a chance to win on the road in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season as they had to play against their NFC West rivals the Seattle Seahawks.

However, the Rams shocked the league when they managed to dominate the Seahawks and win 30-13.

Los Angeles looked like the more physical team up front as they made a concerted effort to run the ball up the middle with their tandem of running backs.

Both Cam Akers and Kyren Williams got ample amounts of carries, though the opportunity split was interesting as the former figured to be a workhorse for the offense.

While Akers handled 22 carries to Williams’ 15, he only managed to gain 29 yards on the ground versus the latter who racked up 52 yards.

Shortly before the Week 2 games kicked off, news broke that Los Angeles was deactivating Akers ahead of their pivotal matchup against the San Francisco 49ers and the running said he was just as confused as everyone else via his Twitter account.

I’m just as confused as everybody else. I’m blessed though

There is speculation that Akers is on the trade block and with the late notice it could mean that the team has traction on a deal.

This isn’t the first time that Akers has been in trade rumors as he looked like he was on the move last season after internal disagreements with the team.

However, this situation feels different as the Rams have a legitimate option in Williams to take over should they eventually part ways with Akers after a tumultuous first four seasons.
