The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t want any distractions as they prepare for the 2024 season.
That’s why they may not have been pleased to read Cam Heyward’s name in plenty of headlines during the weekend.
The 35-year-old star is about to enter the final year of his contract, and his recent statements wreaked havoc on social media.
Last Friday, Heyward admitted that he was considering playing somewhere else after his deal with the Steelers ran out, as both parties had been unable to strike a deal.
Heyward claimed that as much as he was enjoying the ride there, it could be fun to take his talents somewhere else, adding that he would definitely be playing in 2025.
That’s why Heyward had to take to Twitter to clear the air on his comments, stating that his goal is to play for the Steelers for the remainder of his career.
The goal is to be a Steeler for the rest of my career…… anyways on a more important front happy Father’s Day yall

Heyward skipped OTAs, but he added that he wanted to play for at least three more seasons, sending a clear message to the organization he’s been with since entering the league in 2011.
He’s not getting any younger, and durability might be a concern, but Heyward is still a team legend and has earned the benefit of the doubt and the right to go out on his own terms.
Given his résumé, leadership, and impact, it wouldn’t be shocking to see multiple teams looking to make a run at him if the Steelers still don’t sign him to a contract extension or give him a new deal by the end of the season.
