Usually, when a player on the professional level is obsessed with the game of football, which is generally the case for most players in the league, whether they are superstars or role players, they try to transition to coaching in some capacity.
More often than not, these players tend to be role players because they’ve taken more of a coaching approach throughout their entire career by studying the game, while superstars are physically gifted and tend to excel on the gridiron with ease.
However, occasionally, a player who was a superstar on the NFL level sometimes tries their luck at coaching, with one of the most recent examples being Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who is currently the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes on the college level and has made a lot of noise in the process.
Sanders was an outspoken and flashy player during his prime, and no one ever thought he’d go into coaching, but now he’s made a name for himself at the University of Colorado and could have a career coaching in the NFL at some point.
Another former NFL star, Warren Sapp, has joined Sanders’ coaching staff, and after watching Sapp express his love for coaching, Newton said he doesn’t share the same love for it.
“I’ve been bit by that bug before, but I don’t want to get into coaching,” Newton said.

Although Newton isn’t interested in coaching for the time being, he did admit to having the urge at one point, meaning that the desire to give it a shot could emerge again in the future, especially if Sanders and Sapp have continued success.
Only time will tell if Newton will be holding a clipboard while wearing a headset on the sideline somewhere.
