Former Phoenix Suns player Cameron Payne has no hard feelings about his recent trade.

The guard was on Instagram Live recently and made his opinions about leaving the Suns very clear.

According to ClutchPoints, Payne said, “I miss Phoenix already.”

But he then added: “They trying to win the chip and I respect that. I feel like they’ve could’ve won a chip with me though.”

For the last few seasons, Payne was a reliable backup point guard for the Suns and averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 assists a game.

However, the Suns are undergoing some pretty substantial changes.

It all started last February when they traded for Kevin Durant.

Then in the summer, they dealt away Chris Paul, landed Bradley Beal, and also got rid of Payne.

They also received a new head coach too.

That coach, Frank Vogel, is known as a defensive-minded leader.

It’s possible that the Suns didn’t see as much value in Payne because he hasn’t always been known as a strong defender.

For whatever reason, Payne was dealt away to the San Antonio Spurs in July.

Although he won’t be a part of any success the Suns have in the future, he might find something special for himself in San Antonio.

He can now fight for a starting position on the roster, especially since he is a veteran and has more experience than most of the young players in the lineup.

Plus, he will get to work alongside rookie player Victor Wembanyama and head coach Gregg Popovich.

Payne was loyal to the Suns and helped them out a lot.

And while he is ready to move on, he still misses his former team.
