Adam Wainwright has been on the injured list since July 5, one day after he allowed seven runs against the Miami Marlins.
The St. Louis Cardinals right-hander went on the injured list with a shoulder issue, something he had been attempting to pitch through but ultimately was not able to do so.
He owns a 3-4 record and an abysmal ERA of 7.66.
However, the veteran right-hander may be making some progress towards a return.
According to John Denton, who covers the Cardinals for MLB.com, Wainwright says his shoulder is feeling much better after receiving multiple shots to treat the stiffness and soreness.
The 41-year-old is slowly making progress towards a return.

St. Louis brought Wainwright back on a one-year, $17.5 million contract.
He finished the 2022 season with an ERA of 3.71, but lost his spot in the rotation after an uncharacteristically bad September.
Wainwright has only had one start this season in which he has allowed less than three earned runs.
But the right-hander had been attempting to pitch through his shoulder issues.
A healthy Wainwright would give the Cardinals a major boost on the pitching side.
St. Louis finds themselves well out of postseason contention thanks to the struggles of their starting rotation and bullpen.
Wainwright is set to retire at the end of the 2023 season.
With Steven Matz having pitched a gem against the Chicago White Sox while filling in for Wainwright, it’s unknown what the Cardinals will do with the two-time World Series champion.
St. Louis could plug him back into the rotation or potentially use him in the bullpen.
