The start of the 2023 season has been anything but enjoyable for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Their walk-off loss on Tuesday night dropped them to six games below the .500 mark, where they have not been since June of 2017.
The team has now dropped the first two games of their series with the San Francisco Giants and find themselves tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the bottom spot in the NL Central.
Before the game, Bally Sports Midwest caught up with President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak.
However, Mozeliak made some controversial comments, asking fans to be patient amid their tough stretch to open the season.
John Mozeliak says there’s still plenty of time for the #STLCards‘ lineup to find some consistency: “The one thing I’d ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win.” pic.twitter.com/wIsKkC1t0k

While Mozeliak is correct in pointing out that the season is still relatively young, that argument cannot be used much longer, especially given the Cardinals’ recent track record.
They have yet to win a series since April 10-12 against the Colorado Rockies.
Fans also have been quite patient for a good amount of time.
St. Louis has not reached the World Series since 2013 and have been quiet in recent offseasons and at trade deadlines, despite their club desperately needing some improvements.
Cardinals fans have waited for the team to make a key move that could potentially put them on the same level as teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies.
But that move has not been made, and the team is suffering the consequences.
Needless to say, Mozeliak’s comments will likely frustrate a good portion of the Cardinals fanbase.
