The Arizona Cardinals are a mess right now after a season in which the team couldn’t come close to the high expectations given to the team before the 2022 NFL campaign.
Last season was such a disaster that the team parted ways with head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who recently joined USC’s coaching staff under head coach Lincoln Riley.
With the team moving on from the Kingsbury era, a lot of doubts have been shed on Kyler Murray’s long-term future with the team and whether he can get the job done under center for the Cardinals.
Along with doubts about Murray, the team is expected to trade star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins at some point during the NFL offseason.
New Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon recently gave an update on Hopkins’ status and what the team plans to do with him moving forward via Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports.
#AZCardinals HC Jonathan Gannon said he’s been in communication with WR DeAndre Hopkins and is looking to do what’s best for him and the team.
As for the WR’s participation during voluntary workouts?
“We’ll see.”

With the two sides seemingly ready to part ways, it’ll be interesting to see the next move in Arizona and the interest in the veteran wideout around the league.
Plenty of teams in the NFL could use a wide receiver of Hopkins’ caliber, especially teams looking to contender for a Super Bowl title next season or in the near future.
The 2023 NFL Draft is on April 27, meaning the Cardinals could look to trade Hopkins at some point between now and draft day to get compensation this year, but with few updates on the status of this potential trade, it’s anyone’s guess what the team’s plans are moving forward.
