The St. Louis Cardinals have had some bad luck in recent years when it comes to trades.
The most notable examples are the Marcell Ozuna trade, the Randy Arozarena trade, and the Adolis Garcia trade.
All three trades cost the Cardinals some top talent, which currently has them in a predicament.
Outfielder Dylan Carlson is a name that has been floating around in trade rumors with the Cards expected to sell at the deadline.
However, Katie Woo of The Athletic thinks that it may be unwise for the Cardinals to part ways with Carlson, predicting that it could end up similarly to the trades involving Arozarena and Garcia, via 101 ESPN St. Louis.

Woo says it’s been quite perplexing how the Cardinals have used Carlson this season.
He was initially expected to be an Opening Day outfielder before Jordan Walker came up and pushed him out of a starting role.
Carlson received more playing time in May, but ultimately got hurt and went on the injured list.
Since his return, he has performed quite well, but he has only seen regular playing time with key players on the IL.
Currently, Tommy Edman, who took over as the team’s center fielder, is on the shelf.
Woo believes Carlson has received the short end of the stick over the past several years thanks to the Cardinals’ outfield logjam.
She then stated that if the Cardinals were to move on from Carlson at the trade deadline, it may only take a few years for him to reach his full potential and become an All-Star with his new team.
