The St. Louis Cardinals may be off to a bad start, but things aren’t all gloom and doom in St. Louis.
In fact, fans are feeling pretty good about what they’re seeing thus far from top prospect Jordan Walker.
The 20-year-old had a solid spring training and found himself on the team’s Opening Day roster.
Since he made the team, Walker has picked up a hit in every game.
After the Cardinals’ 6-1 loss to the first-place Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, manager Oli Marmol discussed what he has seen so far out of Walker and why he’s so impressed.
Marmol on Walker: “It’s not just that he’s getting one knock a game. He’s not giving away any at-bats. It’s a really productive at-bat. He’s calm, he’s under control, he’s a tough out. It’s looking really good.” #STLCards pic.twitter.com/ugokHGqwEA

Walker’s RBI single on Sunday accounted for the only Cardinals run.
So while the offense has cooled off and the starting pitching remains an issue, the production of Walker remains the same.
Marmol praised Walker for not only being able to hit consistently, but the fact that he doesn’t throw away at-bats.
Marmol then referred to Walker as a “tough out” and praised him for being so calm and focused every time he’s in the batter’s box.
And this is certainly encouraging for the Cardinals.
While Willson Contreras was their only big addition offensively, Walker is certainly helping the team and has proven that he’s ready for the big leagues.
The Cardinals will ride Walker’s hot bat into Denver for a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies.
