The St. Louis Cardinals may have found a new secret weapon within the organization, one that was on full display on Sunday afternoon as they pounded Chris Bassitt and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Nolan Gorman led the way with two home runs as the Cardinals cruised to a series win.

The 22-year-old made his MLB debut last season and showed flashes of his potential, but struggled to find consistency.

Though early in the season, it appears as if Gorman has worked out some of the issues that were plaguing him last season.

Manager Oliver Marmol certainly thinks so.

After Sunday’s win, the Cardinals manager commented on Gorman’s huge day and the adjustments he made to prepare for the 2023 season.

Marmol said that Gorman understood that he needed to make some adjustments in order to keep his spot on the roster in 2023.

The Cardinals manager said that in spring training, it was clear that Gorman was a completely different player, not just in his mechanics, but also in his personality.

Marmol stated that he could essentially feel Gorman’s confidence and that it was easy to tell he made some key improvements over the winter.

Gorman now serves as the Cardinals’ regular designated hitter against right-handed pitchers.

On Sunday, he showed that he may in fact have that job down pat.

Gorman hit 16 home runs last season as a rookie and appears to have made some key improvements early on in the 2023 season.

The slugger lost playing time towards the end of the 2022 season, but appears to be on track for a breakout this season.
