On Friday night, Pete Alonso became public enemy No. 1 in St. Louis when he threw shortstop Masyn Winn’s first career hit into the stands at Busch Stadium.
The New York Mets first baseman was booed relentlessly by St. Louis Cardinals fans.
However, the slugger attempted to make things right before the Mets and Cardinals squared off on Saturday, and he sent a few gifts over to the Cards’ top prospect.
According to Mets insider Tim Healey, Alonso sent Winn a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila and an autographed bat with an apology message over what took place.
Healey revealed this news on Twitter.
Pete Alonso sent Masyn Winn a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila, plus an autographed bat with a personalized message.
“Just as a ‘hey, hope you have a great career, sorry about last night, my mistake, wish you well,’” Alonso said.

While Alonso may be public enemy No. 1 in the eyes of Cardinals fans and those around St. Louis, he is at the very least attempting to make things right, and he sent a few nice gifts over to the Cardinals’ top prospect.
Understandably, Cardinals fans aren’t too happy with Alonso over what took place on Friday.
To add salt to the wound, Alonso hit a two-run homer late in Saturday’s game as the Mets rolled to a 13-2 win and secured a series victory.
But after making his mistake, Alonso appeared to have felt remorse over throwing the ball into the stands as opposed to the Cardinals dugout.
Fortunately, the slugger did the right thing to try and make good with Winn.
The message on his bat also wished Winn well in his future endeavors.
Winn went hitless in his second game against the Mets on Saturday night.
