Cardinals Reveal Details Of Adam Wainwright’s Farewell Weekend

The St. Louis Cardinals do not have much to be happy about this season.

They are on a short list of teams that have been the most underwhelming in baseball this year.

Many thought the Cardinals would compete in the NL Central and possibly make a run at the World Series.

Instead, this team is last in the Central and has a 65-81 record.

With the season coming to a close the Cardinals have finally found something to celebrate.

That is the retirement of starting pitcher Adam Wainwright.

He is a Cardinals legend and someone who deserves a full weekend to honor.

The Cardinals announced that September 29 to October 1 will be Adam Wainwright weekend.

Featured in the weekend will be a stadium tour, fireworks, and a post-game live musical performance from Wainwright.

This will be the final home series of Wainwright’s career.

Also, it is one that the team wants him to remember forever.

Throughout Wainwright’s career, he has been everything the Cardinals hoped for.

He played 18 seasons for the Cardinals and racked up some impressive stats in that time.

Wainwright made three All-Star teams, finished top three in the Cy Young voting four times, and won a World Series in 2006.

Also, he led the MLB in wins twice and innings pitched twice.

Even though this season has not gone well for Wainwright, he still has a great career to look back on.

Wainwright sits at 199 career wins, so you better believe the team will be motivated to get him 200 career wins before he hangs up the cleats.

It would make it even more special if he could get 200 on his celebratory weekend.
