The New York Yankees have their sights set on the World Series this year.

After a terrible 2023 season, the Yankees made vast improvements this offseason.

One of the big moves they made was trading for All-Star Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres.

He should make their lineup potent, and give them arguably one of the best duos in baseball.

Soto and Aaron Judge will be a major problem for opposing pitchers.

But, for the Yankees to reach their full potential they need their pitching to be elite.

They have reigning AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole at the top of the rotation.

But, some question marks arise after him.

Carlos Rodon is the one starter that everyone will have their eyes on, yet this spring has not gone well for Rodon.

According to Bryan Hoch, Rodon has gotten crushed in spring training but he is not concerned.

“Carlos Rodón called today’s start ‘one of those days that you’ve got to be able to pitch without the fastball and kind of use some other things. That was good to feel that, in a game that no one really gives a [crap] about, because it doesn’t matter. It’s Spring Training,’” Hoch tweeted with Rodon’s words.

He signed with the Yankees last offseason and was projected to be an elite starter.

So far in his Yankee career, he has been anything but that.

He threw 64.1 innings last season with an ERA of 6.85.

The Yankees counted on Rodon and he performed poorly.

Just like last season, nothing seems to be working for Rodon this spring.

He has a spring ERA of 6.35 across 5.2 innings.

After last season, seeing some positive results from Rodon is crucial.

He seems confident he can get back to pitching at an All-Star level.

That is what the Yankees will need if they are going to make a push for the World Series.
