The Boston Celtics continue to bring in hardware this summer as three of their stars went on to win gold medals with USA Basketball during the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White represented the Celtics on Team USA’s 12-man roster, with White acting as a replacement for Kawhi Leonard.

Out of the trio, Holiday got the most playing time because of his perimeter defense and secondary playmaking.

White joined late but quickly became a trusted part of head coach Steve Kerr’s rotation as he was similar to Holiday, defending and making an impact without the basketball.

Tatum is easily the best player out of the three, but found himself buried on the bench in an important game against Serbia and played one long shift against France.

Carmelo Anthony expressed his frustrations with how the situation with Tatum was handled via 7PM in Brooklyn.

“I don’t agree with how they went about it,’ Anthony said.

Anthony starts by saying he understands why Tatum didn’t play given the other players on the roster, but he goes on to explain that it could’ve been communicated that he wouldn’t see the floor.

While Tatum looked great during the 2023-24 NBA season, his stint on the Olympics team was rough as he struggled to score from the outside and defensively got lost a few times.

Playing for the national team requires being able to accept a lesser role, and while Tatum didn’t complain, it was clear that he was harming the squad’s chances to win.
