The Phoenix Suns may have crashed and burned during the 2023-24 NBA season, but there’s some optimism that with a new coaching staff and some improvements around the margins they’ll be contenders during the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are coming off a strong 2024 Olympics run where they helped USA Basketball win the gold medal over host country France.

Durant missed the entire exhibition slate, but quickly rounded into form and became a key piece throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Booker was a consistent source of offense as the fifth starter alongside LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday and Joel Embiid.

While Durant got his time in the spotlight, Booker’s contributions shouldn’t go unnoticed as he did all the little things to help Team USA go undefeated.

Carmelo Anthony, who knows full well what it takes to succeed on the national team, made sure to give Booker his flowers via 7PM in Brooklyn.

“The one person on the team who had to change their role was Devin Booker,” Anthony said. “I’ve accepted the role of being a pick-and-pop guy.”

Anthony argues that Booker had to make the biggest adjustment to his game and he has a point as the star guard handles the ball quite a bit for the Suns.

However, on Team USA Booker was relegated to a spacing role where he was heavily relied on to knock down open 3-pointers.

Booker proved he could be content in a lesser role, but should go back to being a primary option for Phoenix when the regular season tips off.
