Carmelo Anthony’s NBA career will always be tied to LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade.
Perhaps, that’s why some people will never give him the respect he deserves, considering he was the only top-5 pick from that legendary class of 2003 who didn’t win a championship.
But it’s not like Melo was put in a favorable situation like Darko Milicic, or that he teamed up with other superstars like James, Wade, and Bosh did.
Regardless of his lack of an NBA championship, he was still one of the most unstoppable scorers in the game during his prime.
That’s why his friends LeBron, Wade, and Chris Paul took the stage to pay him a tribute at the ESPYS, congratulating him for his remarkable career after officially retiring from the NBA, and praising him for the work he’s done off the court with the community.

Anthony was overwhelmed with emotion when he heard his brothers and thanked them, his family, and the fans for walking with him throughout the ups and downs of his career.
From the projects in Brooklyn all the way to becoming a national champion at Syracuse, Melo’s name will forever hang high when talking about the greatest players of his generation.
A Team USA legend and one of the toughest bruising offensive forces this game has ever seen, there’s no doubt that he’ll be immortalized at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame very soon.
