Carmelo Anthony entered the NBA as part of the legendary 2003 draft class, which featured LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh as well.

Anthony had a great career in the NBA, but he announced his retirement from basketball earlier in 2023 after failing to find a team to play in the 2022-23 season.

Anthony spent 19 years in the league and will one day be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Keeping that in mind, it was hard to believe that the 10x NBA All-Star didn’t get an offer from at least one team to return for one last season.

Well, Anthony actually received two offers, as he revealed via NBACentral on Twitter.

Carmelo Anthony revealed that he was offered to play in China after being unable to find a team in the NBA.

The former NBA star didn’t mention which team offered him a contract, but apart from Chinese teams, there was one NBA team that wanted the veteran on its roster.

It was none other than the New Orleans Pelicans that wanted Anthony on its roster.

Considering the Pelicans already have a core of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and CJ McCollum, the franchise would have used Anthony as the mentor for the young stars.

Either way, Anthony didn’t accept the offers as he decided to retire instead.

Anthony last played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021-22 NBA season.

For his career, Anthony averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.

Unfortunately, Anthony will go down as one of the best players to never win an NBA Championship.
