Carmelo Anthony accomplished so much during his 19-year NBA career but one thing he never did was win a championship.
Things could have been different had he played alongside LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat.
Anthony spoke with Paul George on the “Podcast P” show, per NBACentral, and said there was a chance of him moving down to Miami to join that big three.
But Anthony chose to resist the calls to South Beach because he felt he was in his prime and wasn’t comfortable becoming the fourth option for the team.

At that point in his career, there had already been plenty of rumors about Anthony teaming up with James.
In the interview with George, he confirmed that the two players wanted to link up, although it wasn’t clear which team they’d play for.
He certainly could have had a lot of success in Miami but Anthony was just coming off of the best stretch of his career and had done amazing things for the Denver Nuggets.
He was that team’s leader and best player and the thought of him becoming a fourth option behind James, Wade, and Bosh didn’t sit right with him.
Anthony admits that he would have had to put his ego aside and change the way he played basketball to fit in.
Playing with his friends would have been great and he could have indeed claimed some championships, but that wasn’t enough for Anthony.
Instead, he made his way to New York and had a successful tenure with the Knicks before moving to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers.
In the end, he retired after a season with the Los Angeles Lakers, meaning he got to play with James after all.
