After getting eliminated by the eventual champion Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers became the center of attention in the league as many anticipated some drastic moves would be made, with superstar guard Donovan Mitchell potentially being traded if he wasn’t interested in signing a contract extension.
Along with everything hingeing on Mitchell’s decision, the Cavaliers decided to make a change at head coach by parting ways with J.B. Bickerstaff to pave the way for the team to bring in Kenny Atkinson to be the new leader on the sideline.
Fortunately for Cleveland, Mitchell ultimately decided he didn’t want to go anywhere despite rumors claiming he might not sign an extension and instead pursue a trade this summer.
With Mitchell back for the foreseeable future after signing his extension, the team also has been securing the futures of a few other key players on the squad, like Evan Mobley, and now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jarrett Allen has agreed to a lucrative new deal.

Even though many believed the team’s core would be broken up this season, the complete opposite has happened with these recent extensions, which means the franchise is confident that it isn’t too far away from contending in the Eastern Conference.
Although the Cavaliers have done everything they can to keep their roster intact this summer, the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers got better this offseason, which will put even more pressure on Mitchell and company to succeed moving forward.
