The Cleveland Cavaliers finally have their guy.
They parted ways with JB Bickerstaff shortly after the end of the season.
They had a successful season by most standards, especially considering how many injuries they went through, but there were reportedly some differences between the coach, the players, and the front office, so it was time for them to go in a different direction.
Now, when most signs pointed towards James Borrego as the next in line to get the job, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that they’ve reached a deal with Kenny Atkinson.

Per Wojnarowski, the contract is expected to be complete soon, and the Golden State Warriors assistant coach will get another shot at being the main guy.
That means that Jarrett Allen will most likely stay, as he was a main contributor to his Brooklyn Nets, and the same could go for Caris LeVert.
Atkinson led a young and inexperienced Nets team to an unlikely playoff berth.
He joined Steve Kerr’s staff in Golden State and helped the Warriors win another championship.
He also turned down several offers and interviews in the meantime, but it seems like he’s ready to go back out there.
The Cavaliers can now focus solely on keeping Donovan Mitchell around and signing him to a contract extension, and a guy like Atkinson could take his game to a whole new level, given how he helped D’Angelo Russell be his best version yet, as well as his experience with Stephen Curry.
