The Cleveland Cavaliers headed into the NBA offseason looking to improve their roster after failing to be competitive in the NBA playoffs, with the team falling to the New York Knicks in the first round in five games.
With the Cavaliers determined to make some changes this summer, the team was active in NBA free agency and in the trade market, as Cleveland seemed to be open to a lot of different options.
Perhaps the most substantial move for the Cavaliers was acquiring Max Strus from the Miami Heat and signing him to a new deal, as it gives the team another starting-caliber player that is coming off an impressive postseason.
Unfortunately, as a result of the Strus deal, the Cavaliers sent forward and fan-favorite Cedi Osman to the San Antonio Spurs.
On Friday, after playing his entire NBA career thus far in Cleveland, the 28-year-old bid farewell to the Cavaliers and their fans through his Twitter account.
I grew up dreaming of becoming a basketball player. Writing these words today, I remember each and every minute we spent in the last 6 seasons with proud and happiness.
To the fans:
I’ve always been happy to be a part of this family. You opened your arms and welcomed me as one… https://t.co/kTiZdlQPne

Clearly, the Cavaliers and the team’s avid fanbase meant a lot to Osman, and understandably so, as he became a special player during his time in Cleveland.
Osman will now get a fresh start under legendary head coach Gregg Popovich and play alongside French phenom Victor Wembanyama for a franchise that has five championship banners hanging in their arena in San Antonio.
This move might be beneficial for both sides as the Cavaliers arguably got better bringing in Strus, and the Spurs add a savvy veteran that can help this team speed up the rebuilding process.
