The Boston Celtics completed a dominant run through the 2023-24 NBA season with an 18th championship after beating the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the NBA Finals, and the priority this offseason has been retaining the roster that got them to that point so they can make a push to win more rings with this core over the next few years.

One key member of that foundation is reportedly being taken care of and added to the list of Celtics under long-term control.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Celtics are giving forward Sam Hauser a four-year, $45 million extension according to his agent, Jason Glushon.

Hauser is one of the best shooters in the league and ripped three-pointers at 42.4 percent last season in a career-high 22 minutes per game.

He averaged a career-high 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season and at 26 years old, he’ll now be locked in as a primary shooter on this team through the rest of his 20s.

Hauser joined the Celtics in 2021 on a two-way contract after going undrafted out of Virginia and has gradually blossomed into one of the league’s most reliable three-point shooters.

The Celtics now have their entire core locked up for the foreseeable future and are well-positioned to defend their title, as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Payton Pritchard are all under team control for multiple years.

It’s a reasonable contract for one of the league’s best shooters as the Celtics owners continue to laugh at the idea of paying the luxury tax.
