It took longer than most people expected, but the Boston Celtics eventually got the job done.

The Atlanta Hawks showed a lot of pride in this first-round series, so the Celtics’ best players needed to step up.

And with Thursday night’s victory, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum officially entered the NBA history books, with ESPN Stats & Info reporting that they now have the highest winning percentage among NBA duos when they both score 30 points or more.

That stat includes playoff games.

Tatum and Brown have led their team to a 23-1 record (.957) when they both go off for 30+ points, topping the mark set by Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen (18-2, .900).

Needless to say, every single time you’re on the same list with Jordan and Pippen, it means you’re doing something well.

And while one could argue that Pippen wasn’t the most aggressive scorer in the game, he was still a crafty scorer who could get his points in a variety of ways.

The Celtics should’ve beaten the Hawks in five games to get some much-needed rest ahead of the Eastern Conference semifinals, but they let a big lead slip.

Now they have a date with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, James Harden, and the Philadelphia 76ers, and it’s clear things will be tougher this time around.

On the bright side, that also means Brown and Tatum will most likely have to keep adding numbers to this tally if they want to stand a chance against another championship contender.
