Celtics Fans Are Upset By Kendrick Perkins’ Comments About Jalen Brunson

The Boston Celtics have had the best record in the league for most of the season.

They’ve already secured homecourt advantage through the playoffs, and they have the most stacked roster in the game by a significant margin.

Perhaps that’s why plenty of people don’t seem to be impressed by Jayson Tatum’s campaign.

Most of the advanced metrics show that as impressive as his individual numbers are, his impact on the team has been minimal, as they have more than enough star power to get by.

Of course, stats also need context, and Tatum is a big part of what they do, not to mention their best player.

That’s why several Celtics fans took offense at Kendrick Perkins’ latest remark (via Celtics Unite).

Kendrick Perkins just said that Jalen Brunson is better than Jayson Tatum.

I pray he doesn’t show up to TD Garden being friendly. His Boston card is revoked.

The former NBA champion was asked whether Jalen Brunson could be the best player in a hypothetical series vs. the New York Knicks, and he agreed.

Of course, the question was whether Brunson could be better, not if he was better already, so Perkins isn’t technically wrong.

Technically, every single player in the series has the potential to be the best player in the series, depending on how he performs.

Also, it is a fact that Brunson has been arguably the best point guard in the game this season, so that shouldn’t be seen as a knock on Tatum.

Tatum has plenty of postseason shortcomings under his belt, and while he can be the best player in the league, he still has to prove himself at that stage, just like everybody else.
