After winning an NBA-best 64 wins during the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the Boston Celtics were able to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference and, as a result, became the clear favorite to represent the conference in the NBA Finals.
Although the Celtics had one of the most talented rosters in the league and excelled on both ends of the basketball floor, the team suffered a big blow in the NBA playoffs with talented scorer Kristaps Porzingis going down with a calf strain, which can be a tricky injury.
With Porzingis’s history of injury issues, including calf strains that could lead to a much more severe Achilles injury, the Celtics have been in no rush to get him back on the hardwood, which has turned out to be a great move.
Boston has cruised throughout the NBA playoffs and is now one win away from returning to the NBA Finals, where it will face either the Dallas Mavericks or the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With the Celtics having a commanding 3-0 series lead against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics will likely advance to the next round, which is more reason to keep Porzingis rested, who has officially been ruled out for Game 4, according to Yahoo Sports.

With the Celtics on the verge of advancing, it really doesn’t make sense to risk further injury for Porzingis, as they’ll more than likely need him as close to 100% as possible to take down the Timberwolves or Mavericks in the Finals.
Now, the question is whether Boston can advance sooner rather than later, especially with Tyrese Haliburton nursing a hamstring injury.
