Now that the Boston Celtics already know their rival in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the team will need to have their top gunners out there to take care of business in as few games as they can.
Needless to say, that means that they desperately need to get star G/F Jaylen Brown back on the floor ASAP.
Brown didn’t partake in his team’s first practice this week and has been sidelined for the past couple of days with a laceration in his shooting hand.
He suffered an incident while watering his plants at home and had to get five stitches.
Fortunately, though, he doesn’t even have a wrap on his hand anymore, and coach Joe Mazzulla claims that the team fully expects him to be on the floor without any limitations for Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs vs. the Atlanta Hawks:
“It’s getting better. He wasn’t able to practice today but he was out there for everything. Still no restrictions, you know, heading into Game 1,” Mazzulla told the media.
The Celtics coach also claims that Brown will be able to practice with the team later this week, adding that he’s been doing a lot of things in the meantime.
The All-Star missed the final two games of the regular season, with fellow PG Marcus Smart also sidelined with a neck injury.
Nonetheless, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year has been practicing normally and is expected to be 100% healthy for Game 1 as well.
The Celtics are one of the deepest teams in the league and one that’s expected to make a deep postseason run, and having Brown and Smart on the floor will be huge for their already-dominant defense.
