The entire Eastern Conference of the NBA was rocked by the addition of Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks.

It is the sort of massive change that could truly affect the entire conference for multiple seasons.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is obviously impressed by Lillard and his skills but he isn’t worrying too much about him in Milwaukee.

Sitting down with JJ Redick on “The Old Man and the Three” podcast, Mazzulla said that he doesn’t have time to focus on what the Bucks – or any other team – does.

Instead, he needs to keep his mind firmly planted on the Celtics and all they have.

This is a smart approach, especially in a league that is moving and changing so much throughout the year.

If Mazzulla or any head coach is too wrapped up in their rivals, they will not be doing all they can to help their own team win.

The Celtics have a lot of positive assets and great players, including newcomer Jrue Holiday.

Mazzulla wants to give them his attention, instead of fretting about what the Bucks and other teams have done.

He also pointed out that the Bucks, last year’s top seed in the East, ultimately fell to the eight-seeded Miami Heat in the opening round.

They had a lot of impressive talent and were favorites to win it all, yet they still got pushed out quickly.

He warned Bucks fans to be careful what they wish for.

They may have just created a monster trade with a lot of upside but that does not guarantee unchallenged, immediate success.
