The Detroit Pistons have lost a league-worst 27 games in a row.

This is not just a season-worst losing streak; it’s actually an all-time worst.

That’s why the Boston Celtics can most likely afford to give Jaylen Brown a breather.

According to ESPN insider Tin Bontemps, Brown will sit out tonight’s contest vs. Monty Williams’ team because of a lower-back contusion.

The Celtics say Jaylen Brown is out for tonight’s game against Detroit with a lower back contusion but that Jayson Tatum will play.

Jayson Tatum, however, is expected to play.

The Pistons have dug themselves into an unprecedented hole.

They’re currently on pace to win just five games this season, even worse than the infamous 7-59 Charlotte Bobcats.

The craziest part about this is that they objectively don’t have a bad team.

Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham could both be pillars and building blocks anywhere.

Jalen Duren is a bruising, old-school big man who can dominate on both ends of the glass.

Bojan Bogdanovic is an elite shooter multiple teams could covet, and the list goes on and on.

It’s not that they’re getting blown out, either.

It seems like they’re getting every team’s best effort now, as no one wants to be the team that ended their all-time losing streak.

The Celtics, on the other hand, have been the best team in the league this season in both conferences, which is far from a surprise after taking a look at their lineup and roster.

They’re currently favored by 13.5 points ahead of this matchup.

But hey, crazier things have happened in the league, and with Brown out with an injury, they might have a chance.
